Bia will be one of the main favorites in Monterrey

Beatriz Haddad Maia from Sao Paulo will be one of the main favorites in the WTA 250 in Monterrey, which takes place between February 27 and March 5 and serves as the last preparation before the WTA 1000 in Indian Wells and Miami. She is the second highest-ranked player entered in the Mexican tournament, behind France’s Caroline Garcia.

Currently occupying fifth place in the world ranking, Garcia pulls the list of subscribers with Bia. The two are the only guaranteed top 20 so far. In addition to them, other big names such as the Belgian Elise Mertens, the Croatian Donna Vekic and the Czech Katerina Siniakova will also be in action on the Mexican synthetic courts.

Played in the week before Indian Wells, the tournament ended with Russia’s Diana Shnaider, currently 94th in the world and the last one to enter the direct bracket. In addition to Bia, the other South American who will compete in Monterrey is Colombian Camila Osorio, 73rd in the ranking and one of the last to get a place in the competition.
