Felipe Meligeni takes invitation and plays quali at Rio Open

The list of tennis players who will compete in the Rio Open qualifier was confirmed this Tuesday. The competition, which will take place on the 18th and 19th of February at the Jockey Club Brasileiro, will feature former champion of the tournament, Cristian Garin, Felipe Meligeni from São Paulo and other great names on the circuit, will define the last four spots in the main singles bracket of the ATP 500.

The highlights of the list are the Chilean Cristian Garin, champion of the Rio Open in 2020 and current 102nd in the world, the Argentinean Facundo Bagnis (88th) and the Serbian Dusan Lajovic (89th). Among the guests, in addition to the already guaranteed Eduardo Ribeiro, who won his place after the runner-up at Maria Esther Bueno, and also Meligeni. Current 162nd in the ranking, Felipe received an invitation from the organization and is guaranteed in the competition that is worth a spot in the main draw of the ATP 500 in Rio de Janeiro.

The singles quali bracket consists of 16 tennis players disputing for the last four spots. 13 receive direct classification through the ranking and the remaining three places are invitations, with Meligeni and Ribeiro being two of them. The last invitation will be announced later. Access to the qualifier will be free, upon registration.
