Amid the defamation trial between Johnny Depp and his ex-wife Amber Heard, his former co-star Eva Green has made it clear who she is supporting in the case. In the lawsuit, Depp alleges that the actress of Aquaman ruined his career when she published an article in 2018 referring to herself as a “public figure representing domestic abuse”, causing him to lose several contracts, including pirates of the caribbean 6 and Fantastic Beasts 2.
Eva Green, who worked with Depp on the fantasy comedy film Night shadows (2012), took to Instagram to post a photo of the two red carpets and wrote a message defending Captain Jack Sparrow’s interpreter:
“I have no doubt that Johnny will emerge with his good name and wonderful heart revealed to the world, and life will be better than ever for him and his family.”she said in the caption.
In a previous interview with the Spiegel newspaper, Eva said that Johnny Depp was one of the nicest actors she worked with, stating that he was a “true gentleman i would stand up for anytime“. The French actress and model continued, saying that for her the situation felt like a nightmare for him to not be able to work, something she classified as “extremely disturbing and unfair”.
Other stars who have expressed their support for Depp include Paul McCartneyWinona Ryder, Robert Downey Jr.Javier Bardem, Chris Rock, Joe Rogan and Bill Burr.
Recently, Johnny Depp surprised fans following the trial outside the courthouse in Faifax, Virginia. He opened the car window, thanked them for their support and responded to a fan in Jack Sparrow’s signature voice, saying: “He’s been around somewhere, I’ve seen him from time to time. He shows up sometimes, I promise.”
The trial is scheduled to end on May 27, when the jury will begin to render its verdict.
