
Minas had a great game and beat Bigua (URU) by 90 to 61, this Wednesday (1/18), at Arena UniBH, for the Basketball Champions League Americas (BCLA). In Group B of the tournament, the Minas Gerais team has six points, with a campaign of two wins in four games.
“We needed to give ourselves an answer in terms of defensive intensity, taking advantage and playing with more personality. It was a practically decisive match for our classification. We’re not sure yet, but we’ve taken a very important step” , assessed coach Leo Costa.
Minas’ top scorer was Shaquille Jhonson with 20 points in addition to contributing five assists. Same number as Alexey Borges, who ended the game with a double-double, scoring 10 points and 10 assists, in addition to 7 rebounds. Isaac Hamilton, Alexandre Paranhos and Felipe Vezaro also did well.
Tonight’s victory came at an important moment for Minas Gerais, as on Monday (16th), Minas ended up defeated by Quimsa, from Argentina . The team could not lose to still try a place in the final phase of the tournament.
