Only Murders in the Building was voted by Rotten Tomatoes as the best series of 2021. So much success led to confirmation of a second seasonwith many exciting additions to the cast, such as Amy SchumerShirley MacLaine and Dear Delevingnewhat will be Mabel’s love interest. A participation not yet confirmed is Paul Rudd, who appeared suspiciously in one of the closing party photos of the production of the second season.
Now, in an interview with deadline, Selena Gomez raised expectations, which were already high, for the next episodes of the acclaimed series. She said the following: “Doing another season of a show that genuinely had the reaction it did is a little stressful. I was nervous because I was like, ‘How can I get over this? How can I be better?”
And the 29-year-old actress didn’t hesitate, concluding with the following promise to fans: “With all my confidence in my body, this is a million times better than the first season. We’ve just defined our characters, we really have a well-blended cast, it’s really diverse. You will be surprised.”
The ten-episode first season follows three strangers who share an obsession with a true-crime podcast. After a suspicious death in the building they live in on the Upper West Side, called The Arconia, the three neighbors decide to start their own show covering their investigation of the death.
Produced by 20th Century Television, the series is created by Martin and John Hoffman, who are executive producers alongside Short, Gomez, Jamie Babbit, Jess Rosenthal and the creator of This Is UsDan Fogelman.
The 1st season of Only Murders In The Building is available on Star+, while the 2nd has its premiere date announced for June 28, 2022, a Tuesday.
