The World Athletics Association (World Athletics) has extended the issuance of neutral statuses to Russian athletes for participation in international competitions, the press service of the All-Russian Federation of Athletics (ARAF) reports.
– In response to the ARAF request for neutrality for 2023, World Athletics replied that the neutrality process will continue until the WA board decides otherwise. Athletes who are neutral for 2022 may continue to compete under the terms and conditions outlined in the WA Council decision dated March 1, 2022 until further notice from WA.
Thus, the neutral status is extended to the athletes who received it for 2022. Those who wish to obtain ANA status must complete all documents in the same way as in 2022, the ARAF said in a statement.
The ARAF has been stripped of its World Athletics membership since 2015 due to a major doping scandal. In March 2022, the world association banned Russian and Belarusian athletes from participating in international competitions.
